A New Passion

From the moment Ben discovered he could use his arms and legs to get around he has been going.  When he was little friends used to be amazed at his energy.  We were told many times how he seemed to have more energy than any other child they had ever seen.  I believe them!

I think though that we may have found his niche.  The perfect sport to fulfill a child who needs lots of action and a little danger.  A tough combination for any mother to accept.  Good golly I will some day have nerves of steel!  Sorry, got off track.  Sooo the new passion is BMX biking and I must say it is cool!

From the first moment he went down the steep hill to pick up speed you could see the pure and utter joy on his face.  It went on for two hours and he was amazing.  He quickly learned how to balance himself at the start gate and hopes to have a BMX career.

We found a used bike online and Don got it all painted up for him.  He is thrilled with it.  I am so happy he is happy.  This was the sight I found the morning after his first evening after the track.  I think it says it all.

Super Awesome Pool Moves

Benny has always been our little water baby.  From day one when he would go into his baby bath he would kick, kick, kick.  This attitude translated directly to the pool.  He dives beneath the surface, snorkels like a pro-the boy knows no fear (my heart pitter patters on a regular basis with this boy!

Jack is more cautious.  We worried he might never get out of his little red and yellow swim vest which we dubbed the Shriner vest due to its uncanny resemblance to the vests the Shriner men wear.  In fact at the beginning of this swim season he inquired about its where abouts.  Without missing a beat I lied and told him it  was ruined by the chlorine last summer.

My lies paid off as you can see by the little boy in his underwear (Jack prefers it to swimwear).   At the end of this season he is keeping up to his brother.  Now a cannon ball expert!

Gingerbread isn't only for Christmas

On days when Daddy is at work we seem to hit the crafts and baking hard so this was super fun because it involved some crafting and some baking. The added bonus was that we got to eat up our creations when we were done. Jackie was in charge of mixing the dry ingredients and Benny in charge of running the mixer. This was a bit of a thrill because it was the first time Ben got to do it all by himself! Much patience was needed here because the dough had to be chilled overnight and there was also a trip to the bulk store to pick our decorating candies. Of course there were a few bumps in this road. We didn't have our usual plastic baggies for the frosting. Tried to substitute wax paper but this didn't really work (exploded every time!). Also had a bit of trouble fitting the pieces together necessitating a complete rebuild after the first build but the good thing about gingerbread houses and little boys is all they see is the candy not the mistakes!
